Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, also known as nose aesthetic surgery or nose reshaping, is a surgical procedure aimed at changing the shape or function of the nose. It can be performed for both aesthetic and functional reasons. Aesthetic rhinoplasty is performed to improve the appearance of the nose, while functional rhinoplasty is done to address issues such as nasal obstruction or breathing problems. In some cases, both objectives can be combined to achieve both aesthetic and functional improvements.

Procedure

A small incision is made at the base of the nose, in an area called the columella, which is located between the nostrils. This incision is almost invisible from the outside and leaves minimal scarring during the healing process. After the incision, the surgeon accesses the nasal bone and cartilage to correct any irregularities in the nose's bridge, reshape the nasal tip, and remove excess tissue if necessary.

This procedure improves both the aesthetics and function of the nose. Additionally, the shape and symmetry of the nostrils can be refined using this technique.

Recovery Process

The recovery from open rhinoplasty typically starts with mild swelling and bruising lasting 1-2 weeks. During the first few days, the patient must rest and avoid disturbing the splint or cast placed on the nose. After one week, the nasal cast is removed, and the patient can return to normal activities. Swelling usually decreases within a few weeks, but the final shape and full recovery of the nasal structure may take up to 6 months. Careful attention to the nose, avoiding physical activity, and following the surgeon's recommendations can speed up the healing process.
