DHI Hair Transplant
DHI Hair Transplant

DHI Hair Transplantation, known as "Direct Hair Implantation," is a highly advanced hair transplant technique. In this method, a special medical device called a "choi pen" is used. This pen allows the direct extraction of hair follicles (grafts) and their immediate placement into the recipient area without the need for incisions or channels to be opened. Unlike traditional hair transplant methods, where follicles are first extracted, and then channels are opened in the recipient area to insert the grafts, the DHI technique combines these steps into one. This reduces the duration of the procedure and provides a more comfortable experience for the patient.
While FUE hair transplantation typically involves a three-step process, DHI is a two-step process, resulting in less tissue damage and more natural, denser results. Another key benefit of DHI is that it preserves the existing hair, allowing the patient to continue their daily activities without having to shorten their hair or lose their natural appearance.
DHI is particularly ideal for patients who seek high density and a natural look.
Procedure
First, local anesthesia is applied to the area to be treated, numbing the patient and eliminating any pain. The choi pen is then used to extract hair follicles one by one from the donor area. In this phase, the hair follicles are carefully collected without damage. The next step involves placing the hair follicles directly into the recipient area using the choi pen, without opening channels. The pen creates micro-level holes to ensure the follicles are implanted at the correct angles for a natural, aesthetic look. This technique makes the process faster and less traumatic.

Recovery Process
The recovery process after DHI hair transplantation is generally quick and comfortable. In the first 1-2 days, mild swelling, redness, and visible crusting may occur, but these symptoms typically subside shortly. The transplanted hair may shed during the first 2-3 weeks, but this is a normal part of the process to allow the follicles to grow back healthily. Throughout the healing period, it is important to follow the doctor's care instructions to protect the scalp. For the first 5-7 days, the head should be kept away from excessive heat, sunlight, and physical impacts. One can resume daily activities after one week, but strenuous activities like exercise should be avoided for at least 2 weeks. Transplanted hair begins to become noticeable between 3-6 months, with full results visible within 12-18 months. Since DHI involves faster healing and minimal scarring, patients typically experience a more comfortable recovery.
